Museums

Museum collections’ storage area of Yellowstone National Park is located in the HRC. The location is near the historic Roosevelt Arch and next to the Gardiner school. Today, the Heritage and Research Center in beautiful Gardiner, Montana, encourages researchers to visit and conduct their research but the facility wasn’t actually designed to be a museum.

Researchers are allowed to visit most parts of the museum but there are some areas which are restricted, such as William Henry Jackson’s photographs, Thomas Moran’s original watercolor field sketches and other rare or fragile items. If a researcher requires access to any of the restricted areas of the museum, he/she will have to fill up some forms and submit for approval.
